Jolly is used all day by people doing real work — coordinators placing orders, notaries checking their schedule between appointments — and it should be usable by all of them. This statement describes where we are, honestly, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We treat that as a goal we are working toward rather than a certification we hold. Jolly has not been through a formal third-party accessibility audit, and we do not claim full conformance.
What we have done
- Text is rendered as real text, not as images, so it can be read aloud, enlarged, or restyled.
- Pages work at ordinary browser zoom levels and reflow on small screens, so the application is usable on a phone in the field.
- Forms use real form controls with visible labels, and errors are described in words rather than by color alone.
- Status in the application is conveyed by text as well as color, so a color-blind user is not left guessing which badge means what.
- Interactive elements are standard controls that respond to keyboard input and are reachable by tabbing.
- We keep contrast between text and background at readable levels throughout.
Known limitations
We would rather list these than let you find them.
- Maps. The notary search map is a visual component. Every result shown on the map is also listed in text beside it, and no task requires using the map to complete it — but the map itself is not usable without sight.
- Generated PDFs. Invoices, work orders, and credential packets are generated documents and are not fully tagged for screen readers. The same information is available as text in the application.
- Dense tables. Some list screens carry a lot of columns and are easier to use on a larger screen than on a phone.
- Uploaded documents. Loan packages are supplied by the company placing the order. Their accessibility is determined by whoever produced them, and we cannot change their contents.
